Friday Night Stats - Week 14

The Highlanders finally get their Rangers and Oilers to show up, at least long enough to get a bit of breathing space atop the Predator Cup standings.  Their lead is still fairly slim but not as tight as the battle for last between the Great Whites and fast-falling Severed Heads.

Can the Jets make it?

Pavelec keeping the Jets chance alive...

Speaking of the Jets - What about Columbus or the Islanders?

Or within the FUNHL - What about the the Highlanders trying to blow their lead and the Great Whiites desparate attempt to get out of last...

10 days to go...

Week 14 - Thursday Night Stats

For a moment there on Thursday night the Highlanders looked like they might actually regain some of their cushion - some breathing space in the relentless advance of the Bladerunners to the top of the Predator Cup table.  But it couldn't last the night.  With a half-minute to go in the Leafs loss to the Islanders, Kessel and Phaneuf combined on a "meaningless" goal and from there the advance continued.  Schneider surrendered 3 goals in 5 minutes taking a nice pt gain and converting it into a pt loss for the night.  While Niemi pitched a one-hitter.  2.5pts is the lead now.  Little reason to expect it will last Friday night.

Wednesday Night Stats - Bladerunners Look To Overtake

Highlander chicken counting before egg hatching appears to be catching up with them as the Bladerunners have shaved the once 30pt lead down to a mere 6pts (seriously, Subban gets 17 PIMs last night?!).

Not only are the Bladerunners sporting a healthy lead in their Challenge Cup Finals game but now look to pass the Highlanders and go for the double with with the Predator Cup.  Any return to the ice by Crosby, Hall, Eberle, or any Ranger would be most welcome right about now :-)

I was in the poker tournament this weekend but it is looking like Brian's all-in at the Trade Deadline may have been just what his team needed.

Week 13 Final Stats - Bladerunners Draw First Blood in Challenge Cup Finals, Draw Closer in Predator Cup Race

Boom.  The Bladerunners paid a big price for their deadline deals but Phil Kessel (7pt week), in particular, is paying off in spades.  The Bladerunners will return to the Tyrell Centre up 1-0 in the Challenge Cup Finals looking to dispatch the reeling Highlanders, whose Oiler/Ranger lifeline went stone cold (well Clowe did get 7PIM, but it was an ugly week at a very bad time).  The gap has been reduced to 19pts, a completely makable amount.  Rob's "I told you so" is warming up in the corner.

At the bottome of the table, the Great Whites have two weeks to catch the Scourge and need about 15 pts to do it, dropping a little further behind.  No Herbie this year but 1st to last is a steep fall which I suspect they would wish to aviod.

The Omivore - oh seriously, it's Bob's ok. :-)

Two weeks, 13 days - drop the puck.

Week 14 Line-ups...

Well guys, you all know the drill...
Please post your line-ups here.

Week 14 marks the 2nd last (penultimate) week of this FUNHL season.
Good luck all...and don't be too anxious!

Thursday Night Stats - Week 13 (Bladerunners Take Lead In Game One of Final)

Bladerunners have a solid Thursday night, matching the Highlanders' production in the Tampa and Montreal games and capitalizing on scooping points in the Detroit-San Jose tilt to take a 3.5pt lead in game one of the Challenge Cup Final and cutting the Highlander's Predator Cup lead to 25pts with little over two weeks to go.  Should be tense.

Monday Night Stats - Week 13 Post Deadline / Challenge Cup Finals Begin

Thanks to Bob for putting the line-ups on the Blog.  Please double check your stats everyone this week.  When there is this much movement of players, I do sometimes make mistakes.  Rob and Dan, please check the last two comments on the line-up post as there were minor issues with your submitted line-ups that Bob and I have tried to fix but we want to make sure you know what they are.

Early returns from the trade deadline suggest that Dan and Chris won.  Either that or it is too early to tell.  Regardless, lots of panic and passion so it must be all good.

The Challenge Cup finals, game one, is underway.  The Bladerunners get help from the newly acquired Kessel (3pts) and the Highlanders are assisted by newly promoted prospect goalie Schneider (3.75pt shutout).  The finals are a best of three affair so there is still some hockey to play.

The Omnivore stats have been updated and while there hasn't been much change at the top there has been some movement within the table.  Most interesting to me is a look a the Edge who, if they hadn't touched anything, might be within a hairsbreath of the Predator Cup lead.  A quick glance at the baseline suggests that there is no one decision that has caused the loss in points but it was a combination of factors.  No doubt a lot of second guessing may be instore for Mr. Sanderson - Edge fans are probably calling for Colleen to get the bench job :-)

19 more days of regular season before those of us in Alberta can look forward to NHL Draft Lottery Day - sad, but true.

Trade lines are NOT open - but phone calls are still welcome.

Week 13 Line-Ups

Well the FunHL trade deadline is now past and the sprint to the Predator and Challenge Cup is underway.

Please post your line-ups in the comments (thanks Bob for posting most of them).

Week 12 Final Stats - Challenge Cup Finals Set

The Highlanders were poised to further extend their lead on Sunday but goaltending let them down - meaning they couldn't take advantage of the Bladerunner's goaltender getting a rare night off in Tinsletown.  Still, at almost 29pts the Highlanders have a bit of a buffer for the final 20 days of the season.

The Highlanders and Bladerunners still have reason to make trades on today's deadline in any event as they both advance to the Challenge Cup finals, which start tonight in the Highlander's Stronghold Arena.  The Highlanders held on to a 10pt lead over the Severed Heads (who boasted the league's second best total for the week) to win their semi-final while the Bladerunners eked out a narrow 1pt lead over the Personal Vendetta.  Brian and Darrel, please check your totals right away as the slightest error on my part may give me a different dance partener and I don't want to have to use my Tardis to fix it if I can at all avoid it.

The Omnivore is just approximate at this point given my current time constraints and the rather substantive lead that Bob holds it is not a priority for me just now.  I will check it soon and expect that several teams will have some noteable adjustments (as is usually the case when I go through and tweak these things at the start).

Trade lines are open but only until 6pm tonight.  Talk to you all soon, I hope :-)

Saturday Night Stats - Week 12

One night to go in the Challenge Cup Semi-Finals.  The Highlanders have a fairly comfortable lead on the Severed Heads but the Personal Vendetta-Bladerunners match is clearly in overtime.

I'll try and update the Omnivore baseline this week, to make sure its accurate, but while there may be some shifting I think it's pretty clear the Shadowmen have this locked up.

As for the Predator Cup, the Highlanders are limping with an FP injury but have managed to build a 30pt lead on the Bladerunners with 3 weeks to go but the last two Oiler games suggest that Hall and Eberle may not be able to maintain that pace.  Trade deadline is Monday so some busy hours left on the phone-lines and e-mail remain for those teams still in the hunt.

Friday Night Stats - Week 12

Apparently there were several games played last night but most FunHL players would have appeared to take the night off :-)

More games today and tonight.  Trade deadline is approaching fast - looking forward to having the screws put to me on sell out options.

4/05/2013

Thursday Night Stats - Week 12

The Highlanders' Oilers go quiet (btw, when do they next play the Flames?) but still manage to gain another point on the Bladerunners.  The 400 pt club grows to 5 teams.  The Bladerunners-Personal Vendetta Challenge Cup Semi-Final is as tight as one could imagine going into the weekend.

Trade lines remain open.

Dan Boyle goes end to end...

Dan Boyle with a GOY nomination?

Wednesday Night Stats - Week 12

As we move towards the weekend the Highalnders are off to a good start to Week 12 and their Challenge Cup semi-final against the Severed Heads, who are having one of the better starts to their week as well.  The Bladerunners are trying to keep pace in the Predator Cup race but are having to fend off both the Edge and the Wolves (who have now joined the 400 club) while trailing a close Challenge Cup semi-final against the Personal Vendetta.  Remember this year's shortened season means that the semi-final is a "one and done" format so no stumbles or second chances are available.

FunHL Trade Deadline is next Monday's line-up and the list of buyers probably includes all five teams mentioned above as well as the Great Whites, who are only 10 pts from escaping the basement, the Barbarians, who the Fish are chasing, and the Shadowmen, because they are always buying :-).

Should be an interesting few days and an exciting last few weeks.  Trade lines are open - but only for a limited time :-)

Week12 Line-ups

A boat load of deals to go with Week 11 Stats...prior to Week 12 Line-ups

.Of course, next week is our own final trade deadline!

Can't we all just get along?  he he

Please post  Week 12 Line-ups here...

Week 11 Final Stats - Now Corrected For Errors on Vendetta, Scourge and Great Whites

Challenge Cup Playoff Match-ups are all set.  The Highlanders get the top seed based on their Week 10 win over the Personal Vendetta.  In a four-way tie for 3rd-6th the Bladerunners and Severed Heads held a 2-1 series record against the Barbarians and Edge (who were only 1-2) so they both make the post season.  The Bladerunners get the 3rd seed on the strength of the Week 11 victory over the Severed Heads which vaulted them into the Playoffs.

The first round of the Playoffs is just a single-game elimination so gear up.

Highlanders and the Bladerunners are the first teams over the 400 pt mark.  The 15pt lead  looked pretty small for the Highlanders before Crosby's annual injury...sigh.  One month to go.

[Update: Small error on the Vendetta's numbers - playing the wrong RWer.  Small error on the Great Whites - playing Siedenberg for both points and +/- (again! d'oh!).  A few errors on the Scourge - playing Tlusty for both points and +/- and also playing every LW ever on his roster?!  All corrected now.  No change to Challenge Cup results.]
