Good times, good times

So today brought us the news that Jay Bouwmeester has agreed to a deal with the Flames.

Which rocks in so many ways, as this gives Calgary one of the if not the best defense corps in the league and locks in a relatively youthful set of defenders for the near future.

But to make matters even more extra special good, the Oilers offered Andrew Cogliano, Dustin Penner, and Ladislav Smid to the Sens in a deal for Heatley, and reports are that Heatley has either flat out refused to waive his no-trade clause, or decided to sleep on it.

Either way the Oilers faithful are pulling their hair out. First because they felt like they gave up too much (losing Cogliano in particular makes them squirelly) and then because Heatley may refuse to move to the hinterlands and play in front of people who would prefer Andrew Cogliano to a full fledged 100pt/50 goal guy.

Like I said, good times.

Interesting to see where the Heatley saga goes. Heatley hasn't said no way, he's said let's see what else is out there.

If San Jose is a possibility - or even LA - than I'd wait too. My suspicion is that Ottawa isn't getting enough from them. If Edmonton agrees to take some additional salary (Jason Smith, or even the just signed Neil) back then this could still end up with Heater in Oiler blue. I just don't see how he stays a Sen.

Man is Heatley ever getting roasted by media and fans! Agree it will be hard for him to play again in Ottawa... but what will Edmonton players and fans think of him if he decides to sign 3+ days later?? Fan 960 making fun today of how Heatley would address things "I'm sure happy to be here; Edmonton was my first choice all along..." etc etc

I think all will be forgiven by Edmonton should he come here. He just acknowledges the obvious - that he thought the Sens were going to trade him elsewhere and when it was Edmonton, he needed time to think about it. Some quick quip about being a Calgary boy traumatized by years of losing to Edmonton is a hard thing to over come but that if Iginla and Bouwmeester are going to wear the flaming C then he can wear the Oil drop. First goal against Calgary and it will all be water under the bridge.

I agree - Edmonton should be happy if they get Mr. Heatley. But will Cam? ;-)

Khabibulin in Edmonton is what is really going to fuel the rivalry. Revenge, revenge!!!!

I think that's why Tambo overpaid - Khabi is a Flames killer.

But they won't have Lecavalier and Richards to stop Iggy + Co. from pouring goal after goal into the net...

Chicago needed neither.

Khabby actually played pretty bad in the CHI-CGY series... he is not the reason the Blackhawks made it through.
