I know everyone has been eagerly waiting to know this (okay, mabye just me??) Sorry Doug if this was your purview but I just felt like doing and sharing + maybe saves you some time.
I have added up all goals scored this season and get the following:
3530 goals scored in Western Confernece
3635 goals scored in Easter Conference
TOTAL goals scored = 7165
30 teams x 41 games each = 1230 games.
Average goals per game = 7165 / 1230 = 5.84.
SO... no change for 2009-10 season and we continue to use 3.75 as goalie baseline according to rules we implemented into the covenant after much blood, sweat and tears last year. Covenant states:
4.00 - 4.4999 use 3.00;
4.50 - 4.9999 use 3.25;
5.00 - 5.4999 use 3.50;
5.50 - 5.9999 use 3.75; ***
6.00 - 6.4999 use 4.00;
6.50 - 6.9999 use 4.25.

Yay, no change in formulas.
Amazing - the formula we adopted not only correctly predicted the chosen 3.75 value for last year, but upholds it for the coming year. Interesting how something that has proven stable should have aroused so much bitterness
Thankfully all out battles about rules are becoming fewer ... they do show we all care about the pool but sap energy. We still all need to be friends at age 80 (I can see the draft taking a few days to complete at that point - lol).
