I would assume that you would do the schedule as 4 games against division (12 games); 3 games against conference (36 games); and 2 games against other conference (32 games) for an 80 game regular season.
Alternately 8 games against division (24 games); and 2 against everyone else (24 conference and 32 out of conference) again for an 80 game regular season.
Playoffs would have Division leaders ranked 1-4 with next 4 Conference teams ranked by points (possibly excluding inter-division points to keep it balanced).

Detroit flip-flops back to the West??
Doubtful Detroit moves, they hated being in the west. Think vegas and sea will be expansion teams. Maybe que is left similar to what Winnipeg was.
Detroit's move wouldn't result in more games in the Pacific/Mountain time zones if they go with the 8-2-2 set up.
I would hate the 8 divisional games scenario but i also see detroit not wanting to move back to the west after fighting so hard to get to the east.
