2012 Playoff Pool - Entry fee= $10

Hi guys, just like last year please send me a list of your player pics

20 Forwards
8 Defencemen
2 Goalies

Goalies get 1 point for win, 2 points for OT win, and 0 for loss (OT or regulation). Additionally they get 2 points for a shutout (eg. 1 point for win, 1 point for shutout). In case of OT Shutout max points equals 3.

Goals and assists are 1 point each.

You cannot pick more than five players (F,D,G) for any one team. You must pick one rookie on your team, you can pick more if you wish but please designate the rookie to fill that position as he will get double points...added twist to pool.

Please submit your teams by Saturday at noon MST at the very latest.

Entry fee this year will be $10.00 because of the recession and further if you want to enter more than one team it allows you to spend double!

Please submit your teams as soon as possible, I will try and get stats out to you on a weekly basis and I will be posting everyone's teams as soon as I can (most likely this Sunday).

So guys pick your teams wisely and I look forward to your submissions.

Playoff Pool Revised...

This is a very simple playoff pool I'm setting up for those who are interested. Let's say, $20 entry fee, and you can submit as many teams as you wish. Depending on # of Entries, either Winner takes All or Winner takes Most and second gets entry fee back...

Points are as follows: 1G=1Pt; 1A=1Pt; Goalie Win =2Pt; Goalie Shutout = 3Pt; Goalie OTL=1PT; Goalie Loss(REG)=0Pt

Deadline for entry has been moved back to Friday, April 15th, at 6:00 PM MST.

Rules: Pick 16 Forwards, 8 defense men, and 2 goalies. NO Limitations on number of players (including defense and goalies) per playoff team. You can pick From any Conference, Western or Eastern -- it's up to you. If you want only WSH and VAN players - your choice. The match-ups, so that everyone knows for round one, is as follows:

In the East, it's WSH v NYR, PHI v BUF, BST v MTL, and PIT v TBL
In the West, it's VAN v CHI, SJS v LAK, DET v PHX, and ANA v NSH

What does it take?

Can someone look through the vast tome of rules and provide an answer to these:
(Then can they, and everyone else offer free opinions?)

What does it take to adjust the baseline in the current system to 3.5 at draft this year? (And is there any opposition to this move?)

What does it take to implement Mike's proposed overhaul of goaltending?

And, the important question:

There's a lot of focus on enforcing the "goalie average" no matter what system we have (I believe it was Thrasymachus who suggested that "justice" was a way for weak people to bring down successful people); what do people think of adding a third goalie to our rosters, and requiring every team in the FUNHL to play 2 goalies each week.

(At this time I have no suggestion for whether we reduce the total number of players in another position--ie I don't think D would suffer all that much if we reduced to playing 5/7--or if we just add another round to the draft, and whether that would be an RFA or FA round.

Playoff Pool v1.0

Hi guys,

This year's playoff pool will be structured in the following manner; $10 per team, you can have as many teams as you wish. The playoffs begin on Wednesday, however, the first game of each series isn't over until Friday, so let's make the deadline Friday noon MST.

Each team will be composed of 9 forwards, 6 defencemen and 1 goaltender for a total of 16 players per team. Please enter your team on this forum so everyone knows who is picking what etc.. Once you have posted a team please in all fairness to the rest of us, do not delete it after you have sent it out on the blog in response to this posting.

Depending on the number of teams and guys taking part in this playoff pool, it will be most likely winner takes all in terms of prize money, or there will be a first and second prize.

f-Datsyuk(DET), Crosby(PIT), Malkin(PIT), Kovalev(MTL), Iginla(CAL), Ovechkin(WSH), Sakic(COL), Jagr(NYR) and Richards(DAL)

Points will be distributed as follows:
for players: 1 goal = 1pt; 1 assist = 1pt;
for goalies: 1 win = 2pts; 1 loss = 0pts, however 1 OTL = 1pt & 1 OTW = 3pts; 1 SO = 3pts
: it is possible to get 6pts for a OTW + SO
