OK trying two ways to do this - if you can, pls vote in both so I can see how it works. One is in this post (below) and the other is in the blog sidebar...
I prefer that we discuss in detail abandoning the waiver wire, along with changes to IR rules etc Hence my vote of No is one of consensus plus other changes are needed.
I'm in favour of scrapping it, but as a replacement I'd suggest unlimited up/down recalls between start of season and WD1.
After that, situation as is.
The benefit is that you can 'audition' your prospects without the casualties associated with the inexplicable return to the AHL/Jr that causes so much consternation for us.
I'd be in favour of scrapping it entirely and going with nothing in it's place, but if we are going to revise the rules, we might as well revise them to something I think would be helpful.
While I certainly agree with Cameron (certainly the temptation to trash the waiver wire is not unheard of and has been a rules nightmare in some cases), the waiver wire could be more useful and this is a conversation that is just starting as Cam threw out a neat idea; I believe as do others, the IR rule has gone awry as it was initially instituted for FPs only, now for anyone - esp post wd2
Dan has opened the discussion. The Covenant needs to be found as well and I guess the conversation will begin.
So 9 votes, 3 abstain? Only 1 vote to definitely keep, so how do we go ahead on this? Can we address the issue by email between now and WD1 and make a decision at WD1?

Simply not No . The Waiver wire until WD! and abandoned is also acceptable.
